Monitoring organic contamination by measuring the TOC of pure and ultrapure water is a basic requirement for quality assurance in microelectronic and pharmaceutical production. Water in power plants and the chemical industry also increasingly require online monitoring of this parameter. In order to detect problems in these sensitive areas at an early stage, a rapid response from the monitoring systems is the most important prerequisite. TOC sensors based on UV oxidation and conductivity detection are ideally suited for this purpose. The monitoring of water for cleaning and rinsing production systems (clean-in-place; CIP) in the application area mentioned is also a domain of fast-reacting TOC analyzers.
In pharmaceutical applications, different water qualities are defined according to the various pharmacopoeias (pharmacopoeia, e.g. European Pharmacopoeia, USP). PW (purified water), HPW (highly purified water) and WFI (water for injection) are common qualities. Differential conductivity analyzers have established themselves on the market in order to continuously test these waters in accordance with pharmaceutical requirements. In addition to the technical design, availability, reliability and ease of maintenance are particularly important aspects.
In addition to the online mode, the Tocadero EVO can also be operated in offline mode to measure individual samples or to serve as a laboratory TOC. An optional autosampler is available for this purpose, which simplifies the measurement of multiple samples.
